How is weft inserted?

On Metag machines, the weft yarn is inserted by means of an arcuate needle insertor.
On wider machine models TRX 600-E and TRX 60 the weft is inserted by a needle-rod or rigid-rapier made in carbon fiber (Patented cam driven rigid rapier weft insertion)

What does it mean "double-weft insertion”?

Double weft insertion” means that during the weaving cycle, the incoming weft is (a) inserted into the shed opening, then (b) locked by means bobbin or latch-needle device, then (c) the weft returns outside the shed before the front reed is beating. (complete cycle: a+b+c)
Such way, the reed is pressing (beating) two weft yarns sided.
This is the the meaning of “double-weft insertion” (one weft in+binding+one weft out+beating of reed)
Any latest generation weaving machines for narrow fabric is typically a “double-weft insertion”
Metag is the only one manufacturer in the world which propose two different selvedge bindings.
A single-weft-insertion is achieved uniquely with old-style “shuttle-loom”

What is the maximum allowed width of fabric?

On Metag machines, the maximum allowed width of fabric (i.e. front reed width) is 620 mm = 62 cm on the wider loom model TRX 600 or TRX 600-E.
On other models the width of fabrics is narrower.
As a general indication, Metag machines can NOT weave fabrics wider than 600 mms.

What is the maximum thickness of fabrics on Metag's?

Very difficult to answer with a figure! Thickness is directly related to the textile construction of fabric (number of ply, pick-density, weft count, type of material, quality of yarns, preparation of weaving-machinery etc).
Generally we experienced the production of solid-woven fabrics up to 15-20 mms. thick
Always suggested you, to send us sample/s of your fabric for our internal evaluation.

Do you also deal with used machines from other manufacturers?

NO, We do not deal with other brand machinery than Metag’s
Sometimes we have available some Metag machines refurbished to propose as second-hand machine. For more information, please contact our sales department at sales@metag.it
